Martina

You can be as inspiring as Martina

“I really enjoy the pleasant atmosphere and great colleagues here. Moreover, our management is willing to listen to us about the problems we are dealing with. In addition, I like the vision of a long-term career, and the ability to switch between different positions or teams within the bank, if needed.“

Martina, IT Business Analyst

Her typical day looks like this:

“My team and I start our working day with a daily Stand-up meeting, where we provide feedback and discuss the topics we are currently working on. This clearly sets my to-dos that I aim to finish during the day. The work of an IT Business Analyst is focused on analysing current product features and enhancements, its data, designing solutions, and preparing specifications for developers. It also involves extensive communication, both within and outside of the team. Every task is different, and I enjoy this variety – it ensures I never get bored with repetitive work.”

What does she enjoy the most?

“It’s a pleasure to have people around me that I can learn from. I’m glad to be surrounded by inspiring and supportive colleagues who can help me with the challenges that the job brings.”

She’s learned a lot.

“Alongside my analyst position, I’m growing into the new role – team co-ordinator in the MCC (Market Conformity Check) team. I’ve gained experience in project management and planning, and I’ve become more work-efficient and more patient. In general, this job has taught me how to co-operate with people from different cultural backgrounds and working environments, and even how to be more courageous.“

What’s made her proud recently?

“I managed to optimise the efficiency of my working day and my meetings, as well as for my team, and I’ve improved collaboration with business users by organising a regular stakeholder meeting, which has been meaningful and appreciated.“

Abhishek

You can be as innovative as Abhishek

“The work at Commerzbank is interesting and challenging. Management is approachable, and there are no red tape barriers with higher management. You can learn & grow here. Get to work with business(finance) & technical experts.“

Abhishek, Senior Software Developer

His typical day looks like this:

“I start with a cluster-level environment check call, which is followed by a stand-up meeting. Once this routine is concluded, I engage in architectural discussions, develop innovative solutions, conduct daily analysis and code tasks, collaborating and pair-programming with peers and junior developers.”

What does he enjoy the most?

“I like the challenge of solving complex architectural problems related to managing the bank’s counterparty risk. I also enjoy modernizing our applications and exploring new technologies, tools, and frameworks that can be applied to my work. Working with such a talented team of engineers, analysts, and stakeholders is rewarding, and I appreciate the opportunity to continuously learn and grow in my role.”

He’s learned a lot.

“Our projects present a lot of interesting problems that demand creative and unconventional solutions. I’ve developed an understanding of risk management principles and practices, financial products and their associated risks, and how to design and develop software applications that meet the requirements of the counterparty risk department. I enjoy this challenge and the opportunities that my job offers me.“

What’s made him proud recently?

“I’m happy to be part of an integral team that has identified the difficulties we are facing with the current Pre-deal limit check (PDLC). Which has led to a new strategic initiative, which aims at achieving higher speeds of response to our front office fx clients.“

Adri

You can be as trustworthy as Adri

“The environment is so friendly and supportive! Our wonderful people are excellent and dedicated, which is a massive motivation to overcome any obstacle that you might encounter. And to me, it’s simply one of the most valuable aspects of working here.“

Adri, Head of CI/CD CHAMP Communities

Her typical day looks like this:

“Each day here is unique and exciting. I usually start my work around 8:30 am with a good cup of coffee with my colleagues, then I thoroughly analyse my calendar and start working. I enjoy planning my day and making sure that the most urgent work gets done first.”

What’s her favorite part of the job?

“I love being in touch with my colleagues from all of Commerzbank’s locations. I also enjoy orchestrating customer events and bringing CI/CD into people’s lives. It’s a constant energy flow which, I have to admit, I enjoy a lot. Being part of my wonderful team and chapter here in Prague makes my days more enjoyable — and I’m more than grateful for that.”

She’s learned a lot.

“In my role, nearly every challenge allows me to remain curious, highly engaged, and devoted to my team. I’ve learned that perseverance and collaborating across different locations and clusters help me and my team to complete any task before the deadline. And it’s a great opportunity to expand our knowledge and to establish better connections as well.“

What’s made her proud recently?

“My team and I often enjoy successful results, yet, my last accomplishment was embracing a new challenge. Most recently, I was chosen as Head of CI/CD Communities, which I really enjoy, as it’s filled with intense and challenging topics, meeting wonderful people, and feeling the contribution to the immense value brought throughout DTC Prague and the other locations as well.“

David

You can be as motivated as David

“Our team is very friendly, perhaps even family-like. Although we all have lots of things to do, we always find time to joke and laugh together.“

David, Senior Project Engineer

His typical day looks like this:

“In the morning, I go through my emails, then I have a regular daily meeting with the whole team at 10:00 am, which may possibly be followed by other meetings in smaller groups on specific topics. The rest of the day I work on my own tasks, unless there’s any urgent situation that needs to be addressed.”

What does he enjoy the most?

“I love it when the thing I’ve been working on is finally finished, and I can see what I’ve done. It’s always great to know that your efforts have led to a successful conclusion.”

He’s learned a lot.

“Since I started at Commerzbank as a student, I have learned various things: working with new technologies, (co-)working within a team, communicating with other teams, and being part of large projects.“

What’s made him proud recently?

“I’m happy every time my team manages to complete a task that we’ve been working on for weeks, or even months. Our projects are now quite extensive, so whenever we reach our goal, it feels like a small, yet fulfilling victory.“

Adna

You can be as professional as Adna

“Commerzbank offers competitive salaries and a variety of benefits. I also think our team is quite special — not only because of all the good work and friendly atmosphere, but also because of all the coffee and cake breaks we enjoy in the office.“

Adna, Scrum Master

Her typical day looks like this:

“I work as a Scrum Master in CPLM (Consolidated Profit and Loss Manager) cell, which is part of the Valuations, Market, and Liquidity Risk area. I usually prepare and moderate different meetings, and interact with team members to ensure that there are no problems that would prevent them from completing their tasks.”

What’s her favorite part of the job?

“In my private life, I strive to be organized and innovative, so I enjoy applying these characteristics in my working routine as well. Especially when it comes to organizing agendas, or simply presenting work-related topics to different audiences.”

She’s learned a lot.

“I’ve been working with amazing and inspiring colleagues, all of whom have different mindsets and qualifications. I’ve learned how to receive and accept feedback from various people, which I think is of great importance for both personal and professional growth. Not only does acknowledging criticism help protect your team, but it’s always a step forward in establishing trust and respect within the working environment.“

What’s made her proud recently?

“As a team, we make progress every day. We work in an agile environment where every step counts. For instance, my responsibility is to keep the team organized and focused so that we fulfill the Sprint Goal. Every time we do so is a success for all of us.“

Taras

You can be as reliable as Taras

“The people are just the best. Every quarter, we try to keep up the tradition of organizing a mini-teambuilding event for ourselves: laser game, bowling, karaoke, beer. And every quarter, I look forward to that.“

Taras, Head of Head office reporting UK

His typical day looks like this:

“Since I work in financial reporting, I divide my working time into weeks, rather than into days. The first week of the month, we finalize all of the reporting packages for Head Office. The next weeks then comprise the preparation of comments to senior management on balance sheets and profit & loss movements. Although it might seem there’s a lot going on, my team and I always try to find an opportunity to go out for lunch, and spend some time together outside work.”

What does he enjoy the most?

“I love working with my team. The people are open-minded, positive-thinking, and come from various countries. It’s so interesting to observe how employees with different temperaments, religions, and attitudes can co-operate in order to achieve the same goal.”

He’s learned a lot.

“As I’m a new manager here, I’m still learning how to be an effective leader, and how to motivate my team. However, apart from that, I believe that working here has taught me to find the balance between being a good manager and a good colleague at the same time. I’ve also mastered the ability to meet tight deadlines, despite any external/personal factors.“

What’s made him proud recently?

“The fact that we finalized our first annual head office reporting and external audit review (both of which were tough, demanding and exhausting) without any material issues.“

Ewa

You can be as pleased as Ewa

“We’re all a great team! Our company culture allows us to freely share our opinions, views, and concerns. We use modern technologies and tools, and on top of that, we always find time for some fun during coffee breaks. I always strive not to just have a team of IT professionals, but to have, to a certain degree, a ‘small family’ type of team.“

Ewa, Application Operation Chapter Lead

Her typical day looks like this:

“Everything is super diverse. As Application Operation Chapter Lead, I ensure there’s alignment across the various tasks that we are working on, making sure our products run smoothly, without any bugs or issues. I also run coaching sessions with chapter members, and organize team meetings where we all share learnings and task-related challenges together.”

What does she enjoy the most?

“The best thing about my job is that my role combines leadership with hands-on execution. I try to improve processes and stabilize current or potential issues. It’s an interesting mix of tasks and responsibilities that allows me to use the benefit of my interpersonal skills, together with technical knowledge.”

She’s learned a lot.

“Starting at Commerzbank DTC Centre was a big challenge for me, as I didn’t have any major IT experience. But as the famous proverb says — where there’s a will, there’s a way. With the help and guidance of many fabulous people here, I was able to learn modern IT tools and gain a lot of know-how. I also began to develop my networking, relationship-building, and influencing skills.“

What’s made her proud recently?

“Each successful production deployment without major bugs is a big achievement for me and my team. And this is what makes me happy all the time.“

Vojtěch

You can be as ambitious as Vojtěch

“The best part of my work is that I learn something new almost every day.”

Vojtěch, Global Entities Specialist

His typical day looks like this:

“Every day, my team and I start with a meeting, during which we discuss the most urgent topics, as well as relevant upcoming meetings. The languages we use are German and English, so that our communication is as pleasant as possible for all of us. After that, I usually work on a mixture of regular and ad-hoc tasks. These can vary from creating specific HR reports, to co-ordinating global HR processes, such as annual performance reviews, recruitment measures, or HR-IT implementations.”

What does he enjoy the most?

“Our team acts as a bridge between the central HR units here in Frankfurt and the local HR units representing more than 20 international locations, as well as around 20 German subsidiaries. My colleagues and I are each responsible for certain entities either in Germany or abroad. In addition, we all have overarching topics in our fields of responsibility, which vary from person to person. I, for example, focus on compensation topics, monitoring & reporting, and HR-IT solutions.”

He’s learned a lot.

“I joined Commerzbank in 2018. After having worked as a Business Partner in Prague for two years, I took the opportunity to broaden my horizons, and moved to Commerzbank’s headquarters in Frankfurt, on an international assignment.“

What’s made him proud recently?

“The most interesting and challenging part of my job is translating the regulatory, technical, and corporate requirements into meaningful, real-life measures, suitable to both the overall banks’ and the specific entities’’ needs in all our regions. To achieve that, I utilise every bit of the professional experience I have gained in HR so far. “

Karolina

You can be as enthusiastic as Karolina

“There’s a very friendly company culture in which everyone tries to help each other. You’ll have opportunities to give and receive objective feedback, you’ll learn, and you’ll grow. Basically, you can do anything here, if you have the right mindset and choose a good strategy.“

Karolina, Head of compliance

Her typical day looks like this:

“I start the morning by checking that all the crucial activities have been done. I can say that every day is really different, and brings new and interesting challenges. However, the biggest part of my agenda consists of ensuring that everyone knows what to do, has the right tools for their job — and most importantly, that everybody feels their job is meaningful.”

What’s her favorite part of the job?

“I love the diversity concerning both the work tasks and the representation of the people in my team and other teams in the bank.”

She’s learned a lot.

“I must keep up to date with everything that’s happening in the world of technology. I’ve learned how to manage complex tasks, and how to achieve the satisfaction of everyone — our clients as well as the staff. I’ve also come to realize that it’s really better to sleep on most problems and tackle them the next day, with a different perspective.“

What’s made her proud recently?

“Last year, I was pleased with the result of an external audit that rated our work as exemplary. I’m also happy that whoever I reach out to at the bank is always willing to help me.“

Viktor

You can be as mindful as Viktor

“It’s almost unbelievable what fun it is to work for a company like this one. Commerzbank is full of inspiring people who never hold a grudge against anyone. Besides that, you get to keep up with new technology and gain a lot of useful experience.“

Viktor, PAM Product Owner

His typical day looks like this:

“I always start with a morning review of the current topics, and a team meeting where we discuss the tasks that are in progress and those that await us in the following days and weeks. Then I continue with a series of conversations with each stakeholder, refining ideas for the future development of our product, and weaving those ideas into specific timelines. Since my job relates to identity management, I’m included in almost all of the audit reviews and interviews.”

What does he enjoy the most?

“The job is never monotonous. We also use modern technologies, but at the same time keep those that we’ve integrated over recent years, and that have proven to be effective.”

He’s learned a lot.

“The list of what this job has taught me is already very long, and grows day by day. Whether it concerns new technologies, or those with a longer history, my team and I always need to learn at least the basic minimum about them, so that we can properly integrate them into our system.“

What’s made him proud recently?

“A short time ago, we were able to connect new cloud consoles to our systems, which required rather long and difficult preparations. Putting them into practice was really satisfying!“
